It’s a shame that there are so many people going to a the trouble of ripping off the work at home job seeker, who are in many cases the most vulnerable members of our community. So how can we know which is a real job opportunity and which is the scam? Your number one defence against scams is common sense. If you can’t find the answer to the question “Why would a lawyer in Uganda select me to handle his five million dollar transfer of funds?” then it’s probably a scam. Here are seven warning signs brought to you by Sharon Davis. 1. Envelope Stuffing, Mail Processors and Home Typists You may pay for instructions on how to advertise for people to stuff envelopes. You’re selling the same packet that you just paid a premium for. There is no product you are just perpetuating the ads. Why would any company need thousands of home typists? What can they do that an administrative assistant and word processing software can’t do? Their may be legitimate work at home jobs such as data base work and data entry jobs but look for the requirement “specialized skills 2 You will be asked for a fee. Again let the common sense kick in. There will always be a contrived reason, but at the end of the day its you who is suppose to be getting the fee. 3. Job listings with spelling errors. What need to be said about this. 4 Job description “No skills or experience necessary” Normally remote employees need to be highly skilled and experienced in what they are doing
5. Vague job description A legitimate employer would want to be as specific as possible to reduce the number of unqualified candidates. So after you have the job description and your none the wiser as to what the job is, then its probably a scam. 6 No clear contact information If its not clear who to contact or where they are located, you should be suspicious. Ask yourself why an employer would want to hide his contact details. 7 If you think it sounds too good to be true, then your probably right. Be guided by the economic postulate “ You don’t get something for nothing”. If something doesn’t seem quite right then check it out and make sure your 100% happy before getting involved otherwise simply walk away
